Point Finder is a high precision 3D touch sensor (probe) which is enable to do any kind of measurements, such as reference position, inside / outside diameter, centering, angle, groove width, and height. All model has nonmagnetic stylus, and its repeatability is assured of ±0.5μm with the standard length stylus. There are 5 models as PTN, PTC, WP, SPi, WPi.

Features of the Point Finder Series

  • High precision 3D touch sensor (probe) 'Point Finder series' is enable to do any kind of measurements such as reference position, inside/outside diameters, centering, angle, groove width, and height.

  • Safety design enables the stylus swing toward X, Y and Z-axes directions and prevents the Point Finder itself from breakage.
  • Four LEDs light up when the stylus touches to a workpiece.
  • As for PTC (Point finder with a buzzer), three LEDs light up and the buzzer let you know when the stylus touches to a workpiece.
  • With nonmagnetic stylus, magnetic force doesn't affect to the measuring.

  • Water-proof Point Finder meets IP67, which is the standard cord to show the degree of protection against dust or water by International Electrotechnical Commission, so it can be used at the factory where the Point Finder would get wet by cutting fluid and be exposed to dust.

How to Measure

Point Finder series are available to measure any position and angle.

　Point Finder makes it possible to do any kind of measurements such as reference position, inside/outside diameters, centering, angle, groove width, and height. Those measurements are very important before metal working.

　With a point finder, it is easy to measure the angle of narrow workpieces, which angle gauges can't measure, on the machining center.

Specifications of the Point Finder series

Use model 'PTN' and 'PTC' when a workpiece is metal or nonferrous metal. 'SPi' is used for measuring plastic, wood and some other materials which block electricity. For small high-speed mashining center, 'Type 06' is available.

'Water-proof Point Finder Series' have a structure to prevent cutting fluid and invisible dust from entering inside of sensor. It meets IP67, IEC standard. Eliminate measurement error, and get high machining quality with it!

Using the Point Finder [External Contact Type] on a machining center with a ceramic bearing, it blocks electricity and workpiece can't be measured. 'Magnet Cable M-500' is a MUST! Length: 50cm It's easy to use: Put a magnet on the housing (front cover) of a point finder and the other on workpiece.

A magnet cable is included with a small-size point finder, PTN-06N.
In case you buy other Point Finder [External] series, make sure the specification of the machine tools you use.
